Blog #3

I found both websites to be intriguing and informative.  The AASHE website had some very neat programs, particularly the STARS program which is a tracking, assessment and rating system surrounding sustainability for universities and colleges.  It is imperative to see where your community stands, as well as other communities because it is important to constantly improve.  By providing these statistics for these schools, the people working to improve sustainability will know what areas they need to focus on more.
Sustainable Carolina's website also provides many "green" programs.  I found the Greening The Mind program to be fairly interesting.  It sounds like they have some pretty cool activities to offer as well as interesting discussions.  The Recycling team also caught my eye because I have always believed in recycling.  There is no need to continue to waste the earth's resources when we can simply reuse what we already have extracted.
Question for Margaret Bounds: What is your favorite part about working with Sustainable Carolina, ie program, activities?

Blog #2

Hello everyone.  My full name is Jacob Hill Jennings III, but I go by Coby.  I am originally from Columbia in the north east area.  I attended Ridge View High School, where I played lacrosse all four years. I have a sister, Rachel, who is 23 years old and also attended school here at the University of South Carolina.  I am in my final year here majoring in Political Science with a Spanish minor, and hope to be bilingual one day.
I currently do not have any future jobs lined up, however I sincerely want to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.  I have been involved in the entertainment business since I was around eleven years old, and have been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since the age of thirteen.  After high school, I chose to attend the University of South Carolina over moving to the west coast because I wanted to continue my education and secure a college degree.
This past summer I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain for six weeks, and it was the best experience of my life.  I was privileged enough to travel to many places and see and do many amazing things while I was there. I have to say, by far, the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri are the most beautiful places I have ever seen.  I love to travel and see new places and I hope to be able to travel and see the entire world some day.

What do you want to get out of the course?  What interests you about “green politics?”  What do you want to explore?

This is the first time I've ever done a blog so we will see how this goes.  I don't really know too much about "green politics," other than Al Gore, so I hope this course offers me the opportunity to expand my knowledge surrounding green politics.
"Green politics" interests me because I would like to learn more about environmental policy and how it works.  I also love nature and I am interested in how the government approaches nature and the environment.
